Dean Borg

Whenever you're at raceday near Torrens Island, you're pretty much guaranteed to see Dean and one of his boats nearby. The term "his" boat does however carry additional meaning - the 'Pro-formance' raceboats are indeed Dean's own creation. He and father Vince, both good with their hands, have been building and racing the prototype boats under the ASBC banner for several years.

Future prospect
Dean with son Nick

Beginning with a 5 litre boat (now driven by daughter Ellise), which the Borg's campaigned for a few seasons before soon moving into B.A.D territory, Dean has done all the necessary groundwork before going Blown Alcohol. His boat-building techniques are no amateure setup either- Dean's 'red boat' was built complete with a fully enclosed capsule cockpit, and he was one of the first to trial it in Adelaide. It was a wise move- Dean threw a prop blade in a heat for the Dorwin Gold Cup, nearly flipping the boat. If it weren't for the capsule he may not have walked from the incident- not without a swim first anyway.

Together with his boat-building skills are his engine building skills. With some assistance Dean put together the fully blown big block for his red boat, and I have heard claims of 2000+ horsepower with enough overdrive (boost). Maybe we'll see Dean doing 140mph at this years Dorwin, although rumour has it that this piece of weaponry could be set for sale, or retirement... ? Nonetheless, as far as total integrity as a self sufficient raceteam goes, none stack up better than Dean and 'Pro-formance'..
