Tony would have to be one of the most passionate boat racers in the country. When it comes to racing displacement boats, and in particular those with a blown alcohol engine, few can match the experience and knowledge that Tony has gained over many years of competing at the top end of the competition.
Having sustained a serious injury from a boat racing incident at Berri in 2000, Tony was on the sidelines as far as competing goes up until 2008 when he was offered a drive of Bruce Jordans B.A.D boat 'The Real Thing'.
Tony was quickly back to his best as a driver producing some fantastic results for the green team, and since his recruitment as crew chief the guys have gone from strenght to strength and as expected are now a top contender at any race meeting they arrive at around the country.
A fierce competitor is Walshie, and make no mistake when you're up against him in a race, be it a warm up race or a trophy final, he'll be pushing as hard as he can to keep that throttle wide open.
Although he pushes equipment hard, one of Tony's quality as a race driver is his abilty to keep the boat "wet" under accelleration. Although the occasional leap out of the water may occur, such moments are few and far between.
He's not one to crack under pressure either- crowds around the country have been in awe while watching Tony race side by side at breakneck speeds against rivals such as Brian McCosker, Troy Marland, John Cross, Brett Shepherd, Trevor Stanley and of course Craig Baily in his formula 1 boat.
Racing in 2008 has seen Tony come close to claiming trophies for 'The Real Thing' team, only to be let down by minor mechanical failures. As the team continues to improve, expect to see Tony on the podium again soon.
