With the frequency of new entrants to the SHOWDOWN slowing the focus shifts to those committed to the event, and local teams 'No Remorse' and 'Beautiful Noise' are set to hit the water again today.
Local B.A.D teams are quite often handed the underdog tag when amongst National competition and some fans are quick to write the S.A boys off when it comes to big races. One would have to say we are underestimated.
Let's consider what we're actually looking at here- 'K-88' is the first blown alcohol flat bottom to be seen on the water in years, to be pedalled by one of the greatest American drivers of all time. Let's just say Scarlata will be well suited to "the mother country's" style of hull.

'No Remorse' is the same calibre hull as none other than the white 'Madness' boat setup by legend Mark Lewins, allbeit with a little more power sitting on the bearers. 1600+hp is more than enough to tango with the best the world has to offer.
Not enough seat & water time for drivers & boats alike you might say? That's why these guys are getting some practice in, and with only 2 weeks to go it definitely is time to get their minds on the job.
Jamie Magor has wound the supercharge up on Palazzo's small block and it is now running 20psi boost. The engine certainly sounded more 'throaty' and the distinctive whine of the blower is even more apparent.
Kym Hankins encountered some electrical problems, followed by some timing issues but eventually got No Remorse on the gas and looked unbelievably fast in the corners, out of the hole and mid track.
Kym seemed rather excited after his 2 lap run and will be heading into the SHOWDOWN with some added confidence.
"She's definitely powering" he said after returning to shore.
"I've made a change to the fuel system. I reckon it's making more power now than it ever has."
When asked what he thought of race fans tipping him to finish third at the SHOWDOWN, Kym was modest to say the least.
"Who said that? What are they thinking man!?"
Obviously Kym won't be putting any pressure on himself to win, but I must agree with those who believe this team has what it takes and if No Remorse runs consitently then Kym may well surprise himself. Other competitors will need to be on the top of their game to keep Hankins at bay come SHOWDOWN Sunday.
