Who will lead the charge for season 2009/2010?

The beginning of the latest HI-POINTS Series for South Australia is finally upon us. The question must now be asked of all race drivers- who will be working towards becoming the next club champion, and who will lead the charge this weekend?

Previous HI-POINTS champions Cutler, Wellington, Barnhard, May and Adam Stunell are all expected to be defending their titles and will be setting the bench mark for this years competition.

Emerging in this series will be a number of new combinations. Dean Borg is still completing the twin turbo boat but is said to be bringing 3 boats to the racing this Sunday - the B.A.D boat, the yellow 5.2ltr and yet another new combination yet to be seen.

Terry Smith has been putting his pieces in place for the season ahead and together with Stanley Automotive will be running a NASCAR Chevrolet engine in Alcatraz. The guys will be flat out getting the fine tuning done before they hit the road bound for Bundy.

Other outfits yet to be seen competing include Bob Swineburne's Totally X-Static. The turbo outfit had a run during practice at the BBS but Bob didn't get his chance to enter his first race. Another two brand new boats are headed for the series but are being kept under wraps and it is unknown as to whether we can expect to see them this Sunday.

Opening day will also include the traditional club reunion, this year with a special addition surrounding the bygone era of 'Insane Racing Team'.

Race crews & drivers of old will be gathering for a dose of nostalgia, no more than previous Australasian Champion Jeff Overall who is said to be piloting ex-Insane 3 boat 'Insanity' throughout the day's proceedings.

Who knows, they say it's like riding a bike- you never forget and if Jeff can still drive like he used to, Insanity could end up being a contender for the series!
