Time to prepare for Australian Championships
12th May 2010
It's that time of year again and as the end of the racing season draws closer the Australian Championships at Mildura is only a few weeks away. This weekend's club day at the North Arm will provide a perfect opportunity for our guys to get their race tune all set for the big weekend at the end of the month.
Heading the charge for SA will be two of our best 6 litre teams. The Smith/Stanley combination 'Alcatraz' will be ready to fire fresh off of interstate competition in Tasmania but the boys will have their hands full against the likes of Greg Lewis in 'Hi Flya' and John Cross in 'Miscreant'. Meanwhile Jeff Stunell is in the process of re-fitting the 6 litre injected combo to his cell boat 'In-Excess'. Our third 6 litre entry is a man stepping up from 5 litre, none other than Chris Wellington in 'J.A.C Racing' who will compete in the 5 litre and 6 litre categories.
Dave "The Sledge" Satterly has certainly found his feet in the Blown Lites Superboat series and heads to round 3 at Mildura 2nd in the Championship! He'll be looking to maintain his position and build on the 611 points in his tally and may use this weekend's racing for fine tuning the B.A.D.
The 25/550 boys will certainly be fired up this weekend at Adelaide as always. Looking to head over to Mildura are the Stunell brothers with 'The Pest' and 'Boating Scene' together with Geoff Cutler in 'Shortcut' and Linton Price who will be looking to dominate the national competition in 'Showbags'.
As for who exactly is racing this weekend I cannot say. As for unlimited, given the current suspension in place the only possibility is 'Totally X-Static'. Bruce Jordan is still yet to unvail the new 'Real Thing' and there would no doubt be plenty more work to be completed on the boat before it hits the water.
Racing starts at 1:00pm. Get down to the club and show your support in a time of need.
