South Aussie B.A.D camp to contend Stannard Cup

South Australia has gained a reputation for having the biggest field of blown boats in Australia. Although several teams will be out of action for next weekend's speedboat spectacular, our bad boys will be packing some punch and looking to upset the big guns from the East.

Dave Clark - Tuff'e'Nuff s83

Dave Clark will be returning to Berri looking to consolidate his stellar form from 2009. Expect to see the 'big engine' on the bearers in 'Tuff-e-Nuff' come practice time next Friday and we can also expect to see the boat going the distance and into the final given the teams unrivalled reliability in the last 12 months.

Dean Borg - Proformance - 40

Dean Borg is eager to get the formula right on board his new 'Proformance' big boat and will be confident considering he picked up a win in a heat at the last event two years ago and he has also had plenty of experience on the short river course at Berri. The team may be one crew member down after engine builder Vince sustained broken bones from a fall late last year.

Bob Swinburn - Totally X-Static - 133

Bob Swinburn has been a patient man getting his prototype 'Totally X-Static' up to speed and has more than his fair share of technical difficulties. We all know that technology is a wonderful thing when it works so let's hope that the guys get the turbo 2JZ firing on all cylinders. If the Evercraft is on song with plenty of boost it will beat the rest of the field to the first turn buoy.

Trevor Stanley - Agent Orange - as10s

Trevor Stanley remains a man on a mission and continues to chase the 150MPH mark. After sorting out some serious handling issues on board the 21 foot Evercraft 'Agent Orange' the Stanley boys should be right up there with the front runners. Being no strangers to competition on a national level, 'team orange' are one of SA's top contenders for the cup.

Tim May - The Boss - s81

Last but not least, Tim May returns to his favored river course for another shot at a major race. Having recently taken care of big guns 'The Real Thing' and 'Unleashed' there is no doubt a certain expectation for the little red boat 'The Boss' to be contending the major trophy. If the team can avoid their niggling technical issues they are a certain starter in the final.

On top of our monster B.A.D field we must not forget the performance of our top boats in the 6 litre category. Back in action for the first time this season is Jeff Stunell in 'In-Excess', alongside Berri hometown hero BJ in 'Bondage'. Making his debut will be Skeet Lawson in 'Cause 4 Concern' and we are expecting big things from this little boat. More on the 6 litre category soon.

Good luck to all and have a safe weekend's racing.
