FURY MARINE (Barry Chesser)
This entry into the Showdown provides a very big added bonus to what is already guaranteed to be a very, very exciting event.
In a rare venture South to Adelaide for the ‘Chesser clan’, FURY’s entry into the Showdown is further confirmation that the very best in ‘BAD’ Boat equipment, owners, and drivers from around Australia (and abroad in the driver category) are really getting behind this unique event.
OK so we’re missing two or three favourites, but this field of boats is one of the best ever assembled and each team will be welcoming the chance to square off against each other for what will arguably be some very big ‘bragging rights’!
Onto the FURY entry itself, the BIG ‘Blood Red’ Evercraft hull is very clean and simple in its presentation. No over the top paint job or flashy pieces of chrome for show, this outfit is all GO and everything about the FURY boat screams FAST! The supercharger being no exception- listen for its distinctive whistle.

Running around 1500hp, I expect that these guys will not be coming all the way to Adelaide just to make up the numbers but instead to give everyone present a very big run for their money.
The boat has been raced sparingly of late not having been seen all that often since 2007. Prior to that however the FURY machine’s biggest achievements include winning the Marj Watson, Stuart Doyle, Errol Jay, Puff Chesser, Australian APBA Championship and placing in the Griffith Cup. Also in the past, other notches in the ‘Chesser belt’ include Messers McCosker and Walsh so you can expect FURY MARINE to be right amongst it this coming Sunday.

The Chesser family are renowned for running a very tight and professional race team and can boast having had a long and proud association with Power Boat racing in Australia. Not that boasting is high on the priority list for the Chesser family- the ‘FURY MARINE’ crew are held in very high regard by supporters and competitors alike from all around Australia and they are extremely well respected both on and off of the race course.
The final word is that after receiving some new parts recently and testing the boat before confirming their entry in the Showdown, Barry Chesser reports that the boat is feeling “very fast”. For a man known to be a ‘hard charger’ and a boat that history suggests has “what it takes”; that to me is enough to suggest that when FURY comes out to play on Sunday, everyone else on the water had better be bringing their ‘A game’.
I for one can’t wait to see what unfolds when Barry Chesser and ‘FURY MARINE’ reintroduce themselves to some ‘old acquaintances’.
