PRE-RACE SUMMARY
16th August 2009. All on-water photography by Terry Smith.

Kryptonite- Whoever said this guy can't drive needs to look again- this setup is a certain favourite. Posted fasted lap time during practice yesterday. Slight problem with rudder that shouldn't be an issue.

Rythum- Will perform solidly all day. Top quality hull matched with plenty of power and an increasingly capable driver.

The Boss- Seemed down on usual straight line pace but will certainly be troubling the opposition. Best cornering boat in the field.

Fury- First time back in the seat for driver Barry Chesser since 2007. Professional outfit that should run all day and if so will make the final.

Tuff E Nuff- Running as strong as ever. Clark completed numerous fast laps and with new Motec technology on board this setup won't miss a beat.

Proformance- Cornering well but down on straight line speed. Will need to step up in order to challenge the front runners but could be using a reliability strategy as opposed to outright horsepower.

Unleashed- Despite an untidy forced right hand turn after an out of water leap (pictured above), Brett the Jet is ready to rumble and will continue his good form. Top 3.

In Excess- Lap times are looking good. Should post around mid-field come hot lap qualifying and will upset a few of the big boys.

Rival- Looking all too good and is a certain favourite. Cross working like a machine behind the wheel as usual.

Insanity- Ken Arnott did extremely well getting used to the boat again after a 2 season break. Will be doing the die hard supporters proud. Go Ken!

K-88- Could be the surprise package from the weekend. The skill & knowledge of all people behind this boat could bring it all the way to the final.

Totally X-Static- The guys will be creeping up on this boats capabilities but won't be pushing hard for the lead.

Agent Orange- Faultless during practice with plenty of speed. SA's own Australian Champ will be a definite finalist, possibly top 3.

No Remorse- Looking the fastest & most settled it's been on the water in years. Will all come down to the driver, be it Hankins or Laundy. Pic by Dale Attwood

Liberty- Suffered terminal damage in practice and won't be competing. Most unfortunate for the guys all the way from Tamworth NSW.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL DRIVERS, CREW & ORGANISERS, MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!
