DAMEROW FIGHTING FOR A SHOWDOWN APPEARANCE

14th August 2009

You can't knock a guy for trying. For the third consecutive day (and very late afternoon) Bob Damerow along with Dale Clothier and their team have taken to the water at Adelaide in a desperate bid to ready their machine for the showdown.

After sorting some magneto problems the boat was seen very close to dusk tearing up the course with zoomie exhausts flaming in the low light. Club veteran Dean Borg was handed the wheel for a drive and let me tell you the black beast looked FAST. However another problem struck and the boat was towed back to shore.

Well done to the team on their improvements so far, let's hope they continue the trend.

IN EXCESS LOOKS THE GOODS, EX-DUGGAN TRIES AGAIN

13th August 2009

2 days out from the SHOWDOWN and yet again local teams took the opportunity to tune their equipment for the big race. Today it was Jeff Stunell and John Loveday testing their wares and the 410ci sounds so tough some would think it was supercharged.

"I'm keen to leave it on the trailer as is" Stunell said after his test run.

"It's accelerating like 10 men"

The guys seemed reasonably happy with their setup, which is similar in nature to the Duggan Balancing setup of Rob Psaila's from some years ago when he installed a 427ci Chev and won the Melton Gold Cup, in the very same boat.

Bob Damerow was again testing, reports are the boys are getting a handle on it and have had possibly their best run yet. However the boat seems a little under powered and failed to settle on the straights. They'll be back again tomorrow.

CROWD BUILDS AT SECRET TEST DAY

12th August 2009

Over 100 eager spectators gathered today and caught a glimpse of Tuff'E'Nuff, Totally X-Static, Ex-Duggan and K-88.

All reports are good at this stage and in particular Bob Swinburne is said to be literally ecstatic after his successful FAST run with plenty left in the Garret GT-55. Well done to Bob and his crew who were at it all day getting the brand new combo to run.

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED

12th August 2009

K Boat racing champions Tony Scarlata and Dave Rankin touched down in Adelaide this morning. Team owner Paul Palazzo kept the airport transfer off limits to media and we were unable to get a snapshot of the American superstars. Obviously Palazzo is keen to keep his K Boat guru's under wraps until they make a full recovery from their jet-lag.

Not forgetting the trans-continent flight came just days after racing in the USA Spring Nationals at Longbeach. Check out this video of Scarlata in action, in the very boat Rankin setup (K-69):

Stay tuned for more news on Scarlata's visit and his approach to the upcoming BAD BOAT SHOWDOWN this weekend.
