As promised, the Adelaide Speedboat Club brings you the latest in power boating news direct from Mildura Victoria.
In one of the most anticipated race meetings of the year, the Friday practice session had plenty on offer. The roar of race engines was heard throughout the town center by 2:00pm and a good crowd of locals were eager to check the action after finishing work on a Friday afternoon.
Without harping on too much about each and every boat, there were a number of stand out competitors in today's practice session.
Brian McCosker is back in action and looks to be a force to be reckoned with. In his practice laps the small block twin plug Chevy was pulling his 18'6" Childsplay out from the corners in spectacular fashion. Prop walks for over 100M were on display leaving B.A.D enthusiasts begging for more.
Dave Clarke certainly looked to be enjoying himself at 130MPH+ in Tuff-e-Nuff, his supercharger could be heard screaming above the noise of his 530ci big block.
Wayne Hodgson and Brett Shepherd gave us a preview of tomorrows action with a practice run that resembled a one on one race, and both boats (Rythum and Unleashed) looked like lightening.

Dean Barry the nugget had She's the Culprit fired up and sounding angry, but despite looking good in his run the team is still working on the engine under lights at the pits as I write, the supercharger & manifold having been removed.
Troy Marland only managed a brief run before throwing BOTH propeller blades and coming to a halt. Despite this Troy looked to be rather relaxed and Madness will certainly be one of the main competitors tomorrow.
Trevor Stanley seems to have sorted any propeller issues he may have had at Adelaide and is looking to be back at his usual pace in Agent Orange.

Other teams to hit the water included Lunatic, Rival, Outlaw, Sacrifice, In Excess, Flat Nakas, Times R Tuff, Image, Hostage, Madness 5ltr, Bud Light, Sportsfilm, plus a number of other formula 1 outfits of which I am unsure of their names. Nonetheless the F1 outboard guys were quietly achieving some very fast lap times on their practice runs, and despite lacking the noise of the B.A.D class, these guys will be the boats to beat.
